Sakura, or cherry blossom season is one of the most popular times of the year in Japan.
The best time to view the beautiful pink colors in Japan is sometimes between late March to early April. But it changes a bit every year depending on the weather circumstances.
But there are som early blooming sakura. Famous one is Kawazu Sakura, which blooms between mid February. But because it start to open slowly compared to most other cherry trees, visitors have a longer time to frame, about one month.
You can view kawazu sakura at some parks in Tokyo, such as Shinjuku Gyoen garden, but the best place is Kawazu city, the town this sakura was discovered.
Last year, we drove with this Hong Kong couple for two and a half hours from Tokyo, to experience the sakura festival there. Along the river, you will be raws of cherry trees extend for abut 4 km, painting whole town a lovely pink.
