bozphoto & styles is a small, family-run photography studio based in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in wedding, elopement, and family sessions for couples visiting from abroad.
The team includes Tsutomu (also known as “boz”), his wife Makky, and their friendly office dog Anz—a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer.
With a background in photojournalism in the U.S., Tsutomu brings a storytelling approach to photography, capturing real moments, soft light, and genuine emotion.
For over 16 years, we’ve had the honor of photographing couples from around the world.
These days, many return—with their children—to revisit the places where they once took their wedding photos.
We believe photography should feel as real as the memories it captures.
Our goal is to tell your story with honesty, warmth, and a touch of light.
First career in the USA
Tsutomu was born in Fukuoka, a city in the southern part of Japan.
At the age of 19, he moved to the United States to study photojournalism at San Jose State University in California.
After graduating, he began working as a newspaper photographer in Napa Valley, a region famous for its vineyards and rolling hills.
There, he covered everything from community news and local sports to in-depth stories on immigrant life.
His years in journalism deeply shaped his style—grounding his work in storytelling, patience, and a sensitivity to real moments and natural light.
Those experiences continue to influence the way he approaches photography today.
Started wedding photo
In 2005, Tsutomu returned to Japan and launched his wedding photography business, drawing on his background in photojournalism to offer a more natural, documentary approach.
At the time, most wedding photography in Tokyo followed a traditional, highly posed style—so his candid, story-driven images quickly stood out and began to attract attention.
Soon after, couples from overseas began reaching out, looking to capture pre-wedding memories during their trips to Japan.

Flow
How it works
1. First please contact us and tell us details of your request, such as data, location, and type of photo session such as, Elopement, pre-wedding, engagement, family photo, newborn)
You can either use our contact form, or use WhatsApp. WhatsApp is usually quicker to response you.
2. Once you are ready to book with us, we require 30,000 yen deposit to secure the date. Payment can be made by PayPal, or bank transfer if you have a bank account in Japan.
3. After the reservation, we can discuss further details of your day. I recommend either by WhatsApp or LINE, but if you don't have those, email is fine. For wedding-day session, we ask for meeting, either online or face to face.
4. For pre-wedding or wedding-day session, the photography starts at your preparation, such as your house or hotel. For casual, engagement session, we meet at your requested location, and if you are not rush, have 5-10 min. chat before actual session starts.
5. We aim to wow you with some sneak peeks within a few weeks after the session. All other images are ready in about 1-2 months, depending on the season. You need some patience until they are ready, but believe me, it worth waiting! All images are provided by download and online gallery, and slideshow for pre-wedding and wedding-day session.
